WARNING: Violence, gore.
Continuing the vampire theme from August and commencing the September theme, monochrome, here’s Young Dracula: Diary of Vampire.
The blurb:
Young Dracula is a sophisticated tale of young Vlad Dracul, the historical Christian Knight.
From the crusades to his meeting with Jonathan Harker which inspired the Dracula novel to a journey to the future, the saga of young Dracula is an intricate horror balanced by the haunting innocence of a ghostly fairy tale.
Apart from the usual run-of-the-mill Vlad Dracul story with some modern twists here and there that nods to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, I have no idea why David Mack (the artist) dedicated this book to Gary Francis’s (the writer) mother. I mean, were they a couple? They collaborated on a few other comics as well. But, what really made me giggle was the photo they chose for the dedication page. He’s (was?) a hot guy, for sure. But why would you use a shirtless photo to dedicate your work to your partner’s mother?

But anyway…
